FYI,
If you happen to have some old Axis or other frameworks that only compile under 1.4 and you want the genuine 1.4 VM, you can use this tip which works great, and you might as well do both java 1.4.2 and java 1.5 while u are at it

Just remove any 1.4 and 1.5 symbolic links *first* .....
