If it was a brand new iMac, then yes WO will be included on the OS X Install DVD. When you open the DVD the WebObjects installer should be in the Developer Tools installers.

If the iMac has OS 10.4.x on it, you'll have WO 5.3, if it is 10.5.x then it will be WO 5.4. You'll want to make sure to download the latest updates to both from Apple before you really get started developing.

The development tools for WO is no longer Project Builder / Xcode, it's Eclipse using the WOLips plugin.

Here's instructions on how to set it all up:

Good luck!

We bought a new imac last december and bought the program WO 5.2 at the same time. So Dave you are saying that WO5.4 is included in Leopard, so we shouldn't even had bought this program. We are completely new to mac, have always had windows. so maybe we could just try the program on our previous windows computer. Didn't see this on the specs of imac that this also comes with WO, if we had known we wouldn't have wasted our money on this.

Thanks for your reply Dave

5.2 is quite an old version. Are you trying to install this on Mac or
Windows? If Windows, I believe the last version of Windows that it
could be installed on is NT 4, _maybe_ Win2k.

If you are trying to install it on a Mac, don't. WO 5.4 comes with
Leopard.

Hi, We bought the webobjects 5.2 program, and there seems to be a problem with this program. I asked a technical agent at Apple for support but they dont support this software.

This was the only option available to get some kind of help. The
problem we have with the program is that when we want to start
working with the project builder application, after filling in
everything that is asked, we should get a window opening up to start
working on a project, well that window doesnt open. We have already
reinstalled the program again and the problem wasnt solved. We have
also done all the updates that needed to be done.

I hope you will be able to provide a solution.

Katia
