Given that there will be an above average number of Xserves or MacPros
running OSX Server on this list (I can offer 2) then surely QuickTime
Streaming should be fairly easy to arrange? It's available out-of-the-
box with OSX Server. A camera or two, a copy of Wirecast (http://www.telestream.net/wire-cast/overview.htm
) and you're good to go. Wirecast will take a live Desktop feed from
any Mac/PC on the LAN as well to serve up P-in-P or other formats.
About 300-500k upstream to an Xserve will be ample for an H.264
stream. The streams can be reflected to other servers around the world
if necessary. It's the server that needs "loads of bandwidth" not the
remote location: that just needs "enough".

PS At last, a *productive* use of my Apple Podcast and Streaming Media
Certification :-)

Given all the livecasting tools out there, I don't think it would be
too much trouble to do. I'm certain there'd be a need to limiting
viewers/interaction, but that shouldn't be too much trouble.
I think the biggest hurdle would be getting a reliable, fast upstream.
That all said, if anyone does want to pursue this, I'll gladly lend
a hand in getting it going.
