Depends upon the service I get.

If I'm only going to be there a day or two, then I don't really do anything, unless I've made an extraordinarily large mess (don't ask).

If I'm staying for a week or more, I find that leaving a few dollars with a note saying "for housekeeper" on the first night, can get added attention to detail like softer towels, more coffee, etc. Little things like that can make a long stay much nicer.

I leave 1-2 dollars when I leave on the last day usually.

Hi!

I was told guests in hotels are supposed to leave a tip for the person
who cleans the room. May I ask you guys how much is usually one of this
tips? Sorry if this seems dumb, but this tip thing is really weird for
Europeans... we usually get paid by our employers when we work! ;)

I hear that yours is still waiting... :-P

Normally, I'd leave nothing. This was news to me too a few years ago. I
don't know how much it is really expected. Maybe more in expensive hotels
than cheap ones or motels. A dollar or two a day should be fine. I usually
don't tip until I check out.

Anyone want to try to make plans to meet up Friday evening? Are there
