Thanks for the pity. :) Yeah, no spaces in the path (standard install), nothing funky with NEXT_ROOT or TEMP. It should be trying to write out the file to the temp directory (instead of /). I'm an administrator on the computer and have write access to the normal places to write (including the root of C:).
Oh well, thanks for your thoughts!

Yes, we still do some development on Windows using WO4.01. I have a new windows VM that I'm trying to configure and I'm getting this error when running an app from ProjectBuilder:
You have my sorrow.
Warning: an error occured while trying to write out port information for application: SmartPracticeStore - the /WebObjects.conf file may already be owned by another user.
This error does not affect your application and you can safely ignore this message, if in deployment mode or while using direct connect.
As a guess, that is the wrong path. And spaces in paths often cause that. Even on Windows! :-P

I have another machine running a similar configuration and I have no problems. I vaguely remember having this problem once, but for the life of me my brain won't pull out the little key to unlock this solution. :)
Any ideas?
Bad NEXT_ROOT?
