Thanks David,

While that seems obvious in retrospect, I was under the failed impression that the entity name and the class name had to be the same.

Just to be clear,

I could have an Entity named "Sprockets" with a java class name of com.spacely.eo.SpacelySprockets?

Yes.

You could also have two separate entities of SpacelySprocket and CogswellSprocket with classes of:

com.spacely.eo.Sprocket
com.cogswell.eo.Sprocket

The class names are identical, but have different packages.

WebObjects is almost too flexible on this in my opinion, but probably because of the limitation of requiring unique Entity names. :-)

Thanks a lot,

Johnny

To be clear, the DB table names and java class names (as long as the packages are different) can be the same, but the Entity names need to be different.

I always try to keep the DB table, Entity and class name the same, but there's no rule that says you have to (other than the "keep it simple" rule).

Thanks for letting me know.

Hi,

My particular issue is that I have two models that both have an entity with the same name (User).

Can't. Just flat out can't. Change one of the names.

They are in different packages but WO is still confused and is throwing an error about the entity being in a different database ....

Thanks in advance,

Johnny

Hi,

Is there a place where I can find documentation on this subject? The Object Style wiki hasn't completed this section yet.

Thanks in advance,

Is there something specific you wish to know?
