Ok, so I tried Aptana for a couple of weeks. I liked some of the features, but disliked a lot of things about it beyond the slowness. I ended up dumping it and gave JSEclipse a try. That's okay but I'd still like to find something that might work better and not be EOLed. It looks like we have at least one vote for textmate. I'm thinking I'll try it, but I'm wondering if I should start with BBEdit instead. I hear BBEdit is more expensive, but it comes with *Ponies*!! (^_^)

Any opinions?

Love it, but probably because I've been using it for years and bought it before it got seriously expensive. You might find that TextWrangler (free version) meets your needs. It's worth checking out first.

BBEdit also sees regular developer love. TextMate, not so much.

And it's made by a guy who made the fantastic editor of a fantastic IDE (THINK Pascal) in the past. But TextMate do seems to have a hell lot more third-party plugins.

Regarding plugins, that's what has me considering textmate strongly. Considering I'm just looking for JS editing, I found this page interesting...

http://www.phpied.com/jslint-on-mac-textmate/

Reading that it had utilities for jslint, minification, and formatting sounds helpful. I wonder how much of that BBEdit does.

I gave a try to Aptana Studio but it really slowed down my eclipse.
I uninstalled it and turned back to textmate+firebug

Hi all,

This is probably a little off topic, but here goes: What are you using to edit javascript? I've noticed the default editor in eclipse has a tendency to autocomplete quotes and braces, but does not auto-un-complete when you press the delete key. It also doesn't do a very good job in the outline view. So I'm just wondering what everyone else is using.
