I don't really think the chrome is that intrusive; the only part that is always on screen is the toolbar at the bottom. And that contains the back button, which your users would probably appreciate being able to use. So why bother with full screen?

When an app is running in that mode, clicking on a hyperlink causes full screen mode to end—Mobile Safari is launched, and the resulting page is displayed in the browser, with UI chrome. Obviously, this is not the behaviour that I want.
