The other web applications on the same machine are ok. We did not try the 'graceful' command.
We are running on WebOjects 5.2.4 and java version "1.5.0_19" on this box.
After reverting all of our patches, the problem was resolved...so it seems that one of those 153 was the culprit. We suspect the Apache patch. Don't know if it was caused because of the older version of WO though.

That sounds like the app was slow to respond to the woadaptor. In that situation, the woadaptor sends the request to another instance (which won't do anything useful for component actions). My first suspicion would be that your app is getting bogged down in some processing after this update.

The instance number does not change on the URL. The code on the application has not changed. In addition, when running on a test webserver which is a OSX Apache 2.2 we are not having these Webobjects issues.
