Just wanted to send this to the list so someone could use the info in the future.
The problem turned out to be one of the sub entities had a complex qualifier. The qualifier before the fix was "((type <> 7) and (type <> 111) and (type <> 112) and (type <> 8) and (type <> 20)) " and the fixed version was "type = 1"
