Yes, I was able to resolve this by switching the compiler version.

My build environment
Snow Leopard 10.6.3
WebObjects 533
Eclipse 5.3.2
WOLips 3.5.6066


Still not out of the woods, when I try and deploy to server, it can not find the openbasepkplugin.jar but at least I am past the original error.
