The manual. :) <http://www.postgresql.org/docs/> PostgreSQL has really good documentation. And if that is not enough, you have a lot of mailing lists in <http://www.postgresql.org/community/lists/>.

Dunnow, replication was introduced on version 9 (the most recent one). But I've read the docs, and it seems fairly simple.

Not sure either, but I guess you could solve that using some kind of tunneling.

I always build from source. Don't ask me why, I just do. :) It builds cleanly on Mac OS X, without needing any extra libs. You have to follow the installation steps tough, to create a system user for PostgreSQL and creating the initial cluster.
