properties for crop on images?

I'm using Image Magic for an image attachment processor, I thought I'd set in Properties:
er.attachment.cropWidth = 150
or
er.attachment.imageProcessor.cropWidth = 150
instead of this, which doesn't crop and renders very low quality sharpness
er.attachment.width = 150
can I crop to a square and sharpen the results by setting properties?
