My deepest thanks to all of you for your kindness and advice.
Really wish we could drive up to Montreal (we are in Toronto) but are already deeply committed for that weekend.
I did so want to buy you folks a beverage. Maybe next year.
The client wants to Skype with me next week at which time I will get more information.
Right now the immediate task is to solve their having to re-boot the server because of the spawned www httpds.
This will give them stability and give us time to review the entire situation.
However it seems clear to me that they need a new Mac with at minimum Snow Leopard.
In fact by the time we get an understanding of their overall concerns (which they have only hinted at right now)
Lion should be out. So their new box should come with it and maybe include Server if that's an option.
Meanwhile I will be doing some preparatory work with the intention of moving their Tiger 10.4.11 Xcode project to the modern Eclipse IDE by following the instructions given at:
So I did step 1 Download Golipse and ran it.
The log showed it installed Eclipse 3.6.2, Workspace Mechanics scripts and the creation of the mechanic.
This was followed by the Eclipse Plugin installer which tried to install the recommended Eclipse plugns.
Got this message:
Downloading and Installing the recommended Eclipse plugins ...

Cleaning up ...
You should be good to go. Eclipse is installed in '/Volumes/Data/Development/eclipse'.
So it looks as though it didn't work.
[BTW I did launch Eclipse and made a workspace directory. I have used Galileo a couple of years ago.]
What to do now?
respect....
