Why does Terminal show this for /Library/LaunchDaemons/ plists?

  • Subject: Why does Terminal show this for /Library/LaunchDaemons/ plists?

I am installing Elipse and Friends on Snow Leopard 10.6.7 following the instructions at:
<http://wiki.objectstyle.org/confluence/display/WO/WO+5.4+Getting+Started>

I have succesfully completed eveything on that page and did an ls -al in Terminal to make sure.
This is what I got:
0 drwxr-xr-x   5 root  wheel   170 20 Jun 12:53 .
0 drwxrwxr-t+ 62 root  admin  2108 20 Jun 10:22 ..
0 -rw-r--r--   1 root  wheel   669 17 Feb 21:13 com.apple.third_party_32b_kext_logger.plist
8 -rw-r--r--   1 root  wheel   770 20 Jun 12:53 com.apple.webobjects.womonitor.plist
8 -rw-r--r--   1 root  wheel   755 20 Jun 12:51 com.apple.webobjects.wotaskd.plist

I created the files using BBEdit and did a Save As... from it.
It asked for my admin password which I entered.

So why is the first number an 8? And what does it mean?

Thanks
