It's written in XML :)

Must say that after having used maven for a short time now I don't get
all the maven hate thats out there. Maven certainly beats manually
managing dependencies .. maybe people er just using it wrong or
blaming poor eclipse support for maven on maven it selfe?

But calling ant simple, thats the shark talking.
