I wouldn't start with javadocs. I would start trying to understand the overall architecture first. I started here:

http://developer.apple.com/legacy/mac/library/#referencelibrary/GettingStarted/GS_WebObjects/_index.html

Start with WebObjects Overview, WebObjects Web Application Programming Guide. Watch David LeBer's WO/Wonder/WOLips part 1 and 2 screencasts while you're at this stage as the Application programming guide is old and references out of date tools.

Once you're comfortable with a simple app with no DB, then read the EOModeler user guide found here:

http://developer.apple.com/legacy/mac/library/#documentation/WebObjects/UsingEOModeler/Introduction/Introduction.html

Again, don't get too caught up in the tools mentioned, just pay attention to the core concepts. Set up a DB and learn how to correctly create, read, update, and delete and EO. Also reference the Enterprise Object guide Johann mentioned if you have questions at this stage:

http://developer.apple.com/legacy/mac/library/#documentation/WebObjects/Enterprise_Objects/About/About.html

Chuck Hill's screencast WebObjects Quite Good Practices is an excellent review at this stage.

Once you understand these core concepts, then you should be able to confidently proceed to D2W. Apple's direct to web guide is good, but old. However, there are LOTS of good screencasts available now on the podcast to detail just about every aspect of D2W development.

Happy coding :)
