Lightweight "stateful" pages?

  • Subject: Lightweight "stateful" pages?

Hi,

Does anyone know (or care to guess) what Apple (and other companies) use for lightweight "stateful" Web pages before they get into full blow WO sessions?

For example, on the Apple store, one can do a lot of things and the pages can remember a lot of things (e.g. shopping cart) before we seem to even see WO.

Even when one starts to checkout there doesn't seem to be a WO app in action but perhaps I am missing something? I am sure there is a lot of AJAX involved so it could be just WO server-side.

The root of my question is that I am trying to understand what is a good solution for those pages that don't need much state, when perhaps a full WO session would not be appropriate?

I am aware of DirectActions etc.

Thanks,
Ashley.

PS Sorry if any of my terminology is incorrect ...
