Hi,
I can't remember exactly how it worked, but I can remember that I once had a similar problem with IE and downloading attachments.
I solved it by writing a direct action for the download.
It was because IE uses two HTTP requests to get the attachment and does not like it when the URL changes (or was it the HTTP headers - sorry this may sound silly, but I'm on vacation right now and do not have access to my dev machine). Just give it a try.
