I've been running it on a Centos server for a year or more with no issues so far:
java version "1.6.0_17"
OpenJDK Runtime Environment (IcedTea6 1.7.5) (rhel-1.16.b17.el5-x86_64)
OpenJDK 64-Bit Server VM (build 14.0-b16, mixed mode)

We were actually planning to use it for production since there is some infrastructure replacement going on and it seemed like the right way to go. Now I am not quite so sure.

I'm sure I could get a Sun/Oracle JDK installed if I tried, but it's a lot easier to just use a single "yum install" from the Amazon-supplied package repo. I know there was some aversion to OpenJDK for WebObjects projects at one point—are people still averse to it, and why? (I've never used it. I've been building with Hudson for over a year using OS X's JDK, but I'm interested in out-sourcing this to EC2.)
