Thanks. I had started to think this was the case, so I figured I would ask about other people's experiences.

Regarding overloading the app, I figured that was the case so I toned down the request to find the point up to which it does not fail. It seems to me that I may be better off doing basic testing and implementing really good monitoring to catch problems as soon as they occur in the wild.
