And MySQL at version 5.1 MyISAM supports transactions.

You have been mis-informed. Neither 5.1 or any version after it has a MyISAM engine that supports transactions.

The good news is that from MySQL 5.5.5 onwards, InnoDB is the default storage engine, not MyISAM (about time)
