I'm not sure this new-fangled "electronic distribution" will catch on. I just bought my wife a Mac Book Air with a software package for word processing, spread sheets and presentations (I'll not use the name because I don't want to be mean to the Redmond based company) and they shipped me a box via UPS that was carried to my door and contained a card with 14 characters on it that I could type into the program once I downloaded it.
Back when I worked in video, we used to joke about sending a tape via fedex because it would get there more quickly than trying to download something. In this case, it took approximately 61 hours to deliver fourteen characters. 0.00051 bps … I think I just heard my 2400b modem laugh from the basement.
