- Thread-topic: Hello World Project - Installation Development
I actually reinstalled my laptop the other day, and having done numerous e3.7 and e3.8 installations in the past months both on Linux and OS X.7, I decided to give this clean OS X.8 system the chance of e4.2 and the latest Wonder.
Previous installations have usually been accompanied by a grain of strain and a barrel of bile (on my part) where any random thing could go wrong.
This time around however, I was pleasantly surprised.
e4.2 -> success (this can hardly fail)
WOLips -> success (this only fails if one gets the URL wrong)
*IGNORED* the "wolips.543.properties" advice - renamed wolips.properties to .dist, created *new* wolips.properties from contents of
the webpage, and only did :s/<YOUR_USER_NAME_HERE\!>/thor/g (yes yes.. I use vi...)
WO -> (this only fails if the internet connection is borked)
Copy the woproject.jar to /usr/share/ant/lib
Wonder -> (this has been my biggest problem so far, but this time.....)
git clone ....
git checkout integration
for item in frameworks applications examples ; do ant $item && sudo ant $item.install ; done
Smooth as silk underwear.
From what I can see on the surface, there are still some quirks in 4.2 (like the EOModeler, clicking fields populates them with data from other irrelevant fields), but overall, it seems to do just fine. A project I'm working on will serve as a proof of concept if 4.2 is ready (for me) or not :)
But thanks to the community and contributors for a surprisingly pleasant install experience :)
*cheers!*
