Have you done the most simple of things. Turn off all the rules for this entity/configuration. Either there is a rule that you have a left side of ‘true’ and it is effecting everything, or a property that you added?

I usually start off by creating a separate rule file for each entity. For me, it makes finding things easier things. Then I only use the user.d2wmodel for the generic stuff.

er.directtoweb.ERD2WModel.additionalModelNames=("Insertion.d2wmodel", "Person.d2wmodel", "Company.d2wmodel", "Insertion.d2wmodel")

how about the trace rules?

#log4j.logger.er.directtoweb.rules.ERD2WTraceRuleFiringEnabled=DEBUG

of course I am probably barking up the wrong tree.
