Yes, I was starting to get the impression that Java was the issue, so I re-downloaded the Java 8 jdk (evidently when googling how to install java I ended up with the link that downloaded the jre and not the jdk. As I said, it has been a while)
Now I can access the properties and edit them. Major progress.
One question though, WHY does "Unsupported minor.major version 51.0" mean that? Could they not have said something a bit clearer?

That is probably all that the JVM knows. That is a JVM class loading error, not something from Eclipse or WOLips. At times like this, Google really is your friend.
The perpetual need to parse arcane errors like this to recover from something that is pretty minor is one of the most frustrating parts of dealing with stuff to me.
If you Google it, you will see that you are not alone. :-)
Now I just need to figure out how to get the WOLips -> New Wonder Project to see my wonder frameworks.
Presumably there is another properties file that sets that info.
~/Library/Application\ Support/WOLips/wolips.properties

Means you need to be running at least Java 1.7.

OK, when I do that precisely nothing happens. The only window is the welcome view that opens when it starts. Thus far I have tried to create my own workspace directory, and have tried using the default ~/Documents/workspace directory. All I get is the “welcome”
view.
If I try and create a test project using the wonder template I get an internal error.
Errors occurred during the build.

Are there spaces in the path to Eclipse, the workspace, or your project?

Yeah, I tried that too. Does not seem to change anything. I don’t know where the file is that it is trying to load, but it seems like the file with the issue is the one setting up the form itself. It does not appear to load the properties file itself, or
even know where it is.
Trying to look into how eclipse loads these things seems to be a bit of a rabbit hole.
When the preferences panel does load, it is empty. If I do get the chance to try and save changes to it I get the message:
"An error has occurred. See error log for more details.
org/objectstyle/woenvironment/env/WOEnvironment”
I have no idea where this log is that I am supposed to be looking at, but nothing in the console seemed obvious.
I have reinstalled eclipse and WOLips multiple times, including deleting and recreating (by hand) the WOLips directory inside ~/Library/Application Support
I do not know what to even look at at this point.

the attached file will help you. Edit it to point to your home dir and drop it in "~/Library/Application Support/WOLips/"

OK, so I installed Luna and WebObjects (using the default location) and (tried) to install WOLips from the below link. When I restart eclipse to try and set the wolips properties in preferences, I get an error that the page contains invalid values:
<image.png>
When I go back to it, all the fields are empty and I cannot save changes.
I will keep looking, but this looks like something in the WOLips configuration itself to me.

Hi Andrew, I manually installed Luna 4.4.2, WOLips Eclipse plugin from
https://jenkins.wocommunity.org/job/WOLips44/lastSuccessfulBuild/artifact/temp/dist/
and WO from Apple's installer. Then setup the WO and Eclipse properties without the WO versions as stated in the wiki (the versioning with Versions/WebObjects543 is completely unnecessary) and then forked the Wonder repository.
Hope this helps
Good luck

Greetings all…again.
It has been about a zillion years (ok, so I rounded up after I hit 3) since I have done anything with webobjects, and thus I need to install fresh on my new computer. I saw the install docs on the community list, but they seem pretty out of date. I tried golipse
but it seemed to never do anything. Then I tried the manual instal, but noticed that the instructions refer to Eclipse Indigo. Is that the preferred version? I downloaded it and tried the install directions on my MBP running Yosemite and created a new Wonder
project, but the WOLips tools do not appear, and the project seems to not see the newly installed wonder frameworks. Is there a better place I should be looking these days? Should I be using a more recent version of eclipse?
https://wiki.wocommunity.org/display/WEB/Project+Wonder+Installation
It is conceivable that I simply did something wrong. (Hard to imagine…)
Thanks
Andrew
