creating a new deployment server

  • Subject: creating a new deployment server

so my old mini (with the CD drive that’s how old it was) with centos 6 finally died and of course Apple likes to play around with their hardware and drivers so Centos 7 does not like to install.

So I bit the bullet and downloaded the free VMWare esxi to manage a Centos 7 VM.

I didn’t do this last year because I was hesitant about starting the whole process. But after playing with this for a couple of days, I have my mac mini (5.1 vintage) running a very nice VM of Centos 7 with Postgresql 9.5. and I can see the web server and use psql from a networked machine so the firewall and selinux are cooperating!

I have no Webobjects installed yet. I am reading the wiki but before I start, does anyone know how up to date it is? I know that Pascal is giving a talk on deployment at WOWODC.

I wish I was able to go (but I did make the company a sponsor!!)

I am looking for advice here. just a nudge into the correct WIKI. I have to replace this server today, and I have only ever used WOMonitor and WOTaskd.

Are there definitive docs to follow?

Thanks, I say again I wish I could scrape up the cash to go to WOWODC.

Ted
