I have to say, that working with ESXi and centos is easy to get a VM of CentOS 7 up running and updated.
it’s just these little gotchas. like if you use yum to update ant, it embeds java 1.7. so when you try to compile mod_WebObjects there are lots of errors. but a little googling fixes that.

service httpd restart should still work on CentOS 7. Anyway, I will try to fix it this week-end, I have to create a CentOS 7 VM anyway for my WOWODC presentation.
Ted,
I don’t think this will be a problem. The rpm spec says [1]:
%post |
|
service httpd graceful > /dev/null 2>&1 |
And CentOS 7 uses 'systemctl restart httpd' i.s.o. 'service httpd restart' on CentOS 6, so the restart of httpd failed. You should do this yourself:
sudo systemctl restart httpd
