Depends what you are doing? I read the wiki on setting up linux, then the Amazon specific stuff. I found a combination worked. I always like to put the most up to day Java. but the amazon rpm is behind. so I manually install java. there are lots of information out there that I have pieced together.
YMMV. if you don’t care about this then it is a pretty straightforward install.
for instance if you look at the Wiki, Documents, Deployment, Platforms, Deploying on Linux, there is a section that you can literally copy and paste into your terminal connection that will install the freshest wotaskd, and JavaMonitor.
