10.2.5 and OpenGL

I found that the Apple X11 + OpenGL performance increased tremendously
(from 3 s per from to 3 frames per second) when I upgraded to 10.2.5
yesterday.  Not that I'm complaining, but what happened?  I have an G4
iMac.
