Uh, not quite. I offered you two possible solutions:
1) Use Xdarwin to get a full screen XDM session from your SGI.
2) Use Apple's X11.app to run a local X session, and then use ssh to
run X clients from your SGI displaying to your Mac.
Solution (1) is probably more like what you are used to, but I have no
experience with Xdarwin.

That means ssh is not installed (or at least not running) on your SGI.
Get the administrator of the SGI machine to install it.
