Hello,
I'd like to notify about importance of proper OpenGL support in the X11
Server, including overlay visuals. No one has done it for Mac the way it
should be done. On the other hand it's supported in other major
UNIX systems. I believe no serious X11 visualization application can
run without proper OpenGL (including overlay visuals) support. On the
other hand almost all modern Mac hardware is capable of running overlay
visuals. These are helpful in avoiding expensive RGBA screen redraws
each time a pop-up or menu appears.
I wonder if any effort has been made by the developers in this
direction? Else, running xclock, xcalc, email-clients, bitmap editors,
text editors is just not worth it.
Best Regards,
Stanko
