Hi,
I recently upgraded to Panther, and decided to test my fink and fink
commander installation on something fun. So the first thing I
downloaded was xplanet. After some tweaking with fink, I got it to work
-- as long as I fire it up with the -animate switch. Otherwise I get
the message
Xlib: connection to ":0.0" refused by server
Xlib: No protocol specified
Curiously, I only get this message when working as root; as a normal
user, I get no messages at all. And nothing happens. Still, the
-animate switch seemed to do the trick.
Then I downloaded bluefish. Same error message (again, only
as root), with the additional line
(bluefish:590): Gtk-WARNING **: cannot open display: :0.0
Curiously, *one time*, as root, bluefish did come up, but with all text
X'ed out. Since then, nothing.
Suggestions?
BTW (while I have your attention), the emacs packaged with panther seems
to fire up just fine, but not in its own window. Is this related?
Thanks!
Alec
