The shell is determined by your "passwd" entry. On Mac OS X, that is
normally kept in the netinfo database. You can change the shell you
use in several ways:
- netinfo manager
- nicl (see the man page)
In 10.3 and later, the command-line tool 'chsh' (see the man page)
actually works as well.
I have a number of environmental variables being set and want to know
where in darwin theses are being set.
The environment variables are actually set by the shell you use.
Therefore, the shell has to run first. Of course, you can always have
"exec /path/to/my/shell" as the last item in your startup script (the
name of which depends on your shell). See the man pages for each of
the shells.
