.xinitrc & KDE

  • Subject: .xinitrc & KDE

After installing Apple's X11 over XDarwin, I'm experiencing a couple of glitches. .xinitrc simply doesn't do anything when starting X11 from the Dock. In fact, X11 doesn't even execute its default behavior (starting quartz-wm and opening an xterm.) Is this normal for starting X from the Dock instead of startx?

Secondly, I'm trying to use Konqueror as a file manager, but I can't seem to get it to do anything useful with the MIME type "application/octet-stream." Of course, this means I can't execute files from within Konqueror. Starting OS X applications works fine from Konsole, so I'm assuming there's some way to make it happen from the file manager. I realize this is a little off topic, but I imagine there are some here who'd like to use KDE as their desktop.

Any help would be appreciated...

Thanks,

Eric Volker
