Anyone seen anything like this?
With SlickEdit (running from a Linux box), accessing the menu bar
(File, Window, Edit, etc) with either a mouse click or a keyboard
shortcut (alt-F, alt-W, etc) randomly causes X11.app to crash. It seems
to be guaranteed to crash if its the first thing I do when I start the
program. If I give it some random keyboard/mouse events, it works fine
until some random time in the future where it dies.
That being said, I'm tolerating this behavior (saving often, of
course), because the speed differences between X11.app and XDarwin are
so stunningly huge...
(for those SlickEdit users out there - after a long time of maintaining
the official position of "We have no plans on supporting OS X", they
seem to be changing there minds. In my periodic queries as to there
position, I enquired about whether a supported-by-apple X11 port may
change their minds. I received this reply:
Andrew,
It could. We have had a lot of requests for an OS X port and our
product managers are investigating the possibility.
Thanks for your interest!
