X11 seems very solid when I'm running local applications like gimp under fink.
However, any remote X application that trys to create a new window, within
itself or open a window to a new application will unfailingly cause the X11
server to dump. What signal it's dumping with, I'm not sure as I'm still new
to OS X, and I can't seem to find any core files left in my home directory.
I access my remote X applications using ssh X11 forwarding, and if the remote
application does not attempt to create a new window, it runs perfectly. Most
programs, I think, create new windows for their application menus, so will
dump the server when accessing these menus.
After X11 crashes, the applications on the remote server quit with fatal IO
error: client killed. I checked this by launching the app from the
terminal.app rather than the xterm provided with X11 (which crashes when X11
crashes).
