My hostname is constant, set to the FDQN.  I can also force this "lock out"
by switching from my Airport connection (on one router at home) to my wired
connection (on another), and in neither of these cases can I *always* force
the "lock out".  According to the help in the Preferences Security tab (for
X11) it is the IP address change that causes the problem.
