Since I'm running in a VPN, I don't believe this is necessary. While
I'm connected to the VPN, I don't have any direct access to the Internet
-- my whole connection is taken over by the VPN. I am effectively
behind the corporate firewall at that point, and thus can't be spammed
from the Internet.
But I will still try the xhost INET:remote_Sun_machine command.

Actually, my Mac's IP address is invisible to the Sun machine, since the
Sun is inside the firewall and the Mac is outside. The only way the Sun
machine can see the Mac, is through the VPN server. That's why I used
the VPN server address.
Maybe I didn't make it clear, that my setup was working perfectly when I
was using XDarwin and also with OroborOSX. That's why I don't think
it's the result of the particular issues you mentioned, but must be
something I'm doing wrong with my Apple X11 setup.
I could be wrong, though.

I was using :0.0, and that was working. I will try :0 and see if that
works.
