I've asked about this a number of times and found no answer that worked
here. However, while looking through my syslogs the other day I found a
reference that said the directory /tmp/.X11-unix was owned by me and should
be own by root. After chowning that directory to root:wheel, I have moved
back and forth from home and work four times without having to restart X11.
I chnaged one other practice. I now make sure to minimize all X11 windows
and switch to Finder or something other than X11 before I close my PBook to
change networks. But that may just be "salt over my shoulder."
I would be interested to know whether either of these steps fixes the
problem for other folks who have seen this error.
