xman: why is it giving me raw PS

On X11 0.2 on Mac OS X 10.2.4 when I try and run xman from my xterm,
apart from the first help page all the rest of the manual pages that
are generated seem to be raw postscript.
All of the manual pages selected from the sections menu of xman start
with %!PS-Adobe 3.0
Why is this and how do I fix it so that xman will format a manual
page that I can actually read??
