Xnest and "Couldn't get keyboard."

Still trying to get Xnest to run. Latest attempt is

bash-2.05a$ Xnest -xkbmap /System/Library/Keyboards/USA.keymapping :1
_XSERVTransmkdir: Owner of /tmp/.X11-unix should be set to root
Couldn't get keyboard.
Error opening keymap file /System/Library/Keyboards/USA.keymapping, reverting to defaults

Every way that I have tried to run Xnest, I get "Couldn't get keyboard."
Any help would be appreciated.
