Does anyone here know how to make window selection in Apple's X11
"sloppy"?
So that I don't have to click all the tool windows in e.g. gimp twice?

Most of gimp's windows are more like Photoshop's tool windows and its
elements should activate on a single click.

works for me.

Not here. When I start gimp, and open an image, and a couple of "Dialogs"
from the "File" menu of gimp, I have to click twice to select anything in an
_inactive_ window.

Open, say, an image, and the "Brush Selection" window. Now activate the
"Brush Selection" window. Now try to activate a tool in the "The Gimp"
window. I have to click twice. Maybe it's a preference I've missed?

Sorry, I misunderstood. Yes I have that too: one click to active the window, another to pick a tool or a brush. Isn't that normal behavior? (I'm new to Gimp, so I don't have a comparison.)
I don't see anything in either Gimp's of X11 prefs that seems directly relevant.
