On the other hand, if you're on a slow link, the compression of ssh
makes X more tolerable.
Hmm, I didn't realize that ssh compressed the data as well as
encrypting it. I haven't ever seen ssh -X respond faster than
xauth, but I usually work over at least cable-modem speeds. X11 over
a slow link can be unbearable, so if I'm using 56k, I just stay away
from X11 network-wise.
