It should not be forgotten that this idea of using the Opt key as Meta is of interest only for US keyboards. We Europeans (even when we use US keyboards) need the Opt key as an AltGr replacement. What is most unfortunate on Apple keyboards is that the left and right Opt and Cmd keys always emit the same keycodes.
