I have just installed X11 on OS X and it installed and ran perfectly.
However, when other users login and click on the X logo (in the
Applications directory) nothing happens.
How do I now configure it so X11 starts automatically when other users
login?
What happens is that when the first person runs X11, the following file
and directory are created in /tmp:
[lusol@Ray:~/Desktop/Test.app/Contents/MacOS] cd /tmp
[lusol@Ray:/tmp] dir
total 24
drwxrwxrwt 12 root wheel 408 Jan 19 03:15 .
drwxr-xr-x 6 root wheel 204 Jan 17 22:04 ..
-r--r--r-- 1 lusol wheel 11 Jan 18 18:50 .X0-lock
drwxrwxrwt 3 lusol wheel 102 Jan 18 18:50 .X11-unix
The lock file is owned by said user. IF X11 exits normally this lock
file is deleted. IF for some reason it's not, when the second user
logs-in and tries to run X11, they don't have permission to (re)create
the lock file, and X11 fails.
I ran into this, and removed the lock file from an admin account.
