More problems: I tried to write a .initrc file in my home directory.
When I tried to launch XDarwin with the file it didn't open at all. I
installed X11 and tried to do as you said but no difference in the
aliases, It is still not working.
Any more help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Aviv.
Just for sure, the name of initialization file is ".xinitrc", not
".initrc". You need ".x" in front of "initrc".
I'm not quite sure what you're trying to do, but as far as I can see
now, the problem is with your "aliases" to ~/Library/init/tcsh
aliases.mine. Are they Unix symblic links? or Apple's aliases? If the
latter is the case, it's guaranteed not to work.
Also, you need a hack to use BOTH X11 and XDarwin. Check out the list
archive.

In the applications menu of X11 choose customise.
Then edit the terminal so it reads
Terminal xterm -ls
my aliases would not work until I did that.
and so that xterm always starts up with xterm -ls you need to create
a .xinitrc in your home folder containing
/usr/X11R6/bin/quartz -wm &
xterm -ls &

Hey all.
After banging my head on ls -color for a while I found my problem.
I installed the new fink and I have XDarwin running on my machine.
The thing is that my XDarwin doesn't log in as the OSX terminal. In
my terminal I have it set up like this: There is a .tcshrc file >>> with;
source /usr/share/tcsh/examples/rc
source /sw/bin/init.csh
and all my aliases are in ~/Library/init/tcsh aliases.mine
this all works fine, but when I open the XDarwin terminal it doesn't
display the same thing as the terminal (for example calendar).
Furthermore, I made as aliases to use color (after installing fink
fileutils). it seems that i need to use ls -color in the terminal
and ls --color in the XDarwin, why?
and, I want to thank John for being so patient with dumbs like
myself.
Thank you all, aviv.
