I just did a little homework about this...
You can define colors by name (only certain names work, e.g. slategray)
or by their hexadecimal equivalent. I'm not quite used to converting
colors into hex in my head so I use Apple's DigitalColor Meter (in
Utilities folder) and select RGB as hex 8-bit to get some meaningful
colors. For a dark blue-green try -bg rgb:00/44/6B.
