dtpad crashes x11.app

I observed some mysterious crashes using the dtwm editor dtpad (OK,
who uses this anyway...).
When connected to a Solaris 2.8 machine by ssh -X (from OS X 10.2.3
with X11 Public Beta, keymapping and some xmodmap entries changed),
dtpad seems to work fine at first sight. However, once a menu entry
of dtpad is activated by mouse click, x11.app reproducibly crashes
with
Exception: EXC_BAD_ACCESS (0x0001)
Codes: KERN_INVALID_ADDRESS (0x0001)
.
What's more, this crash does (equally reliably) not occur if "dtcalc
&" is started before "dtpad &".
Has anybody experienced similar problems? Any idea why this should be the case?
