Fonts

What are people doing for fonts? I'd really like to use Monaco as my main font in X11, but the X renderer doesn't make nearly as nice a version as shows up in native Cocoa apps. I'm guessing this is because it is trying too hard at anti-aliasing? [Actually, I'd like to use ProFont, but Monaco is nearly as good, finally.]
The best alternative I've been able to come up with is to use the scalable misc-fixed font, but I can't get as small a font as I would like. I'd like something close to Monaco 9pt, but when I specify -misc-fixed-medium-r-normal--0-90-91-91-c-0-*-* (i.e., a 9pt font at my screen resolution of 91dpi) it generates an 11px font which looks fine, but the bold and italic versions are nearly illegible. Going to 9.5pt generates a 12px font, where the bold and italic look nifty, but it's too big for my taste.
Looking for suggestions. Any chance Apple will create a Monaco that plays well with X? I'd really like my slashed 0's (which misc-fixed does not do).
